Grace vs. Justice

It occurs to me that there are two Christianities: conservative (right) and liberal (left). On the right, the foundational relationship of God to man is based on justice (though a conception thereof that is completely inaccessible to moderns, in which hell is the just deserts for us all), which is then tempered by (unearned) grace. On the left, God's foundational relationship with man is grace-based, and justice is what he expects of us! The former is more in keeping with the language of the Bible, but it may be too hard to believe.
